ChartRecap

A free trading journal that actually does the job

Most "free" trading journals cap you at a handful of trades or hide the useful features behind a paywall. ChartRecap's free plan is the whole journal — snapshots, analytics, plan-vs-execution review, broker import, and trade replay — with no trade limit and no credit card.

What you get free

  • One-click chart snapshot → journal (TradingView or built-in charts)
  • Win rate, expectancy, R-multiple, equity curve, P&L calendar
  • Plan-vs-execution: did you follow your own rules?
  • Psychology tracking: setup grade, emotional state, revenge-trade detection
  • Broker CSV import (IBKR, Thinkorswim, Webull, Schwab, moomoo) + SnapTrade
  • Bar-by-bar trade replay and shareable recap cards

Why journal at all?

The edge in trading isn't one perfect trade — it's spotting the patterns across hundreds of them. A journal turns "I think I trade mornings better" into a number, shows which setups actually make money, and puts a dollar figure on the mistakes that quietly drain your account. ChartRecap makes the capture fast enough that you'll actually do it: snapshot the chart while the setup is still on screen, and review what works later.

Built for how traders actually work

Already chart on TradingView? Capture straight from it. Trade through a broker? Import your fills. Want to test discipline? Tag each trade against your playbook rules and see what breaking them costs. Try the free calculators or the live demo first — no account needed.

Frequently asked questions

Is ChartRecap really free?

Yes. The free plan covers journaling, chart snapshots, analytics, the calendar, playbooks, plan-vs-execution review, broker CSV import, and trade replay — with no trade limit and no credit card. A paid Pro tier with real-time market data is planned, but the journal itself stays free.

What makes it different from a spreadsheet?

Spreadsheets can't capture the chart you were looking at. ChartRecap attaches the chart image, symbol, timeframe, and price to every trade in one click — so you never lose the context of why you entered.

Can I import my existing trades?

Yes — import CSV exports from Interactive Brokers, Thinkorswim, Webull, Schwab, and moomoo, or connect a broker via SnapTrade. Trades import as individual fills, so scaled positions stay accurate.

Does it work with TradingView?

Yes. Press Alt+S in TradingView and paste the link into ChartRecap, or use the browser extension to capture the chart with one keystroke.

Do I need to install anything?

No. ChartRecap runs in your browser. The optional Chrome extension makes TradingView capture a single keystroke.
